DUES:
As payments (or lack thereof) towards the league entry fees have became a major
issue, we will enforce the old rule of “you don’t pay, you don’t play”.
For the Kamenitz educated, if you are not paid in full before the games of week 3, you will not be allowed to play until you are paid in full. NO EXCUSES NO EXCEPTIONS!! I don’t care if you have paid week 1 for the past 10 seasons.
The entry fee will be posted on the league site as soon as possible. Stay tuned.
LATENESS &
FAILURE TO PAY DUES:
Another major issue has been certain players’ habitual lateness and/or DNPs.
The simple solution is forfeiture of your rights to play in the league. Our waiting list is longer than it’s ever been before. You are only safe if you show up and pay.
TIME:
There will be two (2) 22 minutes halves of “stoppage time”. The clock will not
stop on a made basket.
A 24 second shot clock will be in effect for the last minute of the first half and the last four (4) minutes of the second half.
The plan is for individuals on the sideline to hold the
clock to minimize the burden on the referees and to minimize any potential
complaints. Feel free to volunteer or waive the right to complain.
STARTING THE GAME:
The first game is scheduled to start at 8:10 PM. At no later than 8:15 PM, the clock will be started, regardless of how many players the respective teams can field. Each team will field as many players as are present. Substitutions can be used until the team’s players arrive (see section on “Replacements”). Obviously, substitutions can only be used to even out the number of players.
The second game will start 5 minutes after the conclusion of
the 1st game, but not before 9:20pm.
DURING PLAY:
Each team will have 2 time-outs in the 1st half & 3 in the 2nd half.
In the event of overtime, each team will carry over a timeout from the second half plus an additional timeout.
REPLACEMENTS:
A team missing only one player must field the remaining five. A team missing
more than one player must be able to field five players by finding replacements
as talented as the least talented missing player and it must be approved by the
opposing captain. (For example: if a team is missing a #1 & #5 player, they
can only replace the #5 players with someone of equal or lesser talent. If a team
is missing #1, #3, & #5, they can only replace #3 & #5...)
To save us all time, if a captain chooses to replace the
lesser of his two (2) missing players with a player selected later in the
draft, there can be no objection to this proposed substitution. Otherwise, if
both captains can not agree on a replacement player(s), the commissioners will
make the final decision.
INJURIES:
If someone gets injured, he cannot be replaced, unless:
A) If it is done before the trade deadline and he is replaced for the season
(no coming back) and
B) Your team has 5 players that night & the injury makes it 4 healthy
bodies. In that situation, the injured player can only be replaced for that
game.
FOULS:
-A player is disqualified on their 6th personal foul (technical and/or
offensive = personal AND team foul) except if a team doesn’t have a
replacement for him. If so, the player will remain in the game, and each
subsequent foul by that player will result in a 2 shot foul (regardless of
whether in the act of shooting or not). The opposing team will get two free
throws and possession of the ball.
If 2 members of a team foul out, the player who fouled out second can continue play but the team will be charged with a 2 shot foul for each foul committed by that player (regardless of whether in the act of shooting or not). Players on a team who have not fouled out must be in the game (if others have fouled out).
TECHNICALS:
A technical foul will result in two free throws and possession of the ball for
the opposing team. If the technical foul was picked up simultaneous with a foul
resulting in two (2) shots, the team will not be awarded four (4) free throws.
If you receive 2 technicals, you are automatically ejected
from the game and you don't have someone substitute in for you (even if that
results in your team only having 4 players left). An individual disqualified
for picking up two technical fouls will be suspended for the 1st half of the
following week’s game. A second disqualification (for any reason) will be cause
for a full game suspension and further disciplinary action to be reached by the
commissioners. However, the commissioners will not make such a determination
prior to the player citing the mitigating factors and/or arguments, if any.
The referee can eject any player at any time (no matter if
that player has a technical foul against them in the game yet or not) if said
player does something that the referee feels is deserving of an ejection. The
commissioners will support and uphold such a call by the referee.
FIGHTING:
If a player fights, he is automatically ejected from that
game and suspended for at least one game (maybe more, depending on the
circumstances). It is the commissioners' discretion to determine what
constitutes a fight and the severity of the punishment(s). The commissioners
have the final word on suspensions.
OVERTIME:
Overtime will run 4 minutes with a 24 second shot clock in effect throughout.
Each team will have 1 additional time-out along with the time out carried over
from regulation.
TRADES:
The trade deadline passes with the jump ball of the early game during the week
to be designated by the commissioners.
In order for a trade to be processed, a majority of the
remaining captains (those not involved in the agreed upon deal) must approve
it. Trade approvals can not be unreasonably withheld.
Captains can not trade themselves. Should a captain feel that he can no longer
carry out his duties as captain (i.e. Mark Vegh is a pain in the neck, etc.),
please address your issues with Shapsie.
PLAYOFFS:
The top six (6) teams will advance to the playoffs. The 1st and 2nd
place teams will have byes during the first week of the playoffs. The following
week, the #1 seed will play the lower, surviving seed and the #2 seed will play
the higher seed.
TIE BREAKERS:
The tie breaker rules for 2-way and 3-way ties are the same:
1) Head-to-head. If the teams split their regular season games then
2) Record vs. playoff teams (starting with the first place team, continuing in
descending order). If still even then
3) Point differential during
the head-to-head games. If still even then
4) Point differential vs. the playoff teams.
ANY ISSUE NOT STATED HERE, WILL BE RULED ON BY THE COMMISSIONERS.
THE COMMISSIONERS' WORDS ARE FINAL!
